Back End Engineer

We are looking for a Back End Engineer to join a long-term contract opportunity in Texas. In this role, you will create reliable backend systems and data processing solutions that support analytics and engineering initiatives while helping shape scalable platform architecture. You will work closely with technical and cross-functional partners to turn complex requirements into maintainable services, with a strong focus on cloud deployment, performance, and code quality.

Responsibilities:
• Create and deliver backend services, APIs, and data workflows that support analytics and broader engineering operations.
• Guide technical decisions for backend compute architecture, including the assessment and implementation of Palantir Foundry Compute Modules and container-based cloud platforms such as Fargate.
• Develop, package, and support backend applications and microservices using Docker, emphasizing readable, testable, and maintainable code.
• Partner with data, product, and engineering stakeholders to convert business and mission needs into efficient technical solutions.
• Set up and improve CI/CD processes, automated releases, and monitoring practices across cloud and platform environments.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, system design artifacts, and interface specifications to support development and operations.
• Contribute to Agile delivery activities such as sprint planning, daily team syncs, backlog refinement, and solution demonstrations.
• Investigate and resolve application issues, integration challenges, and system performance concerns with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical guidance to entry-level and mid-level team members and share best practices with project teams as needed.

Requirements

• Strong backend development experience using Python, TypeScript, or Go, with the ability to independently design and build production-ready solutions.
• Hands-on knowledge of Docker and experience deploying containerized services in cloud or orchestration environments such as AWS, Fargate, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with Palantir Foundry or the ability to quickly become effective with Compute Modules, transforms, and platform integrations.
• Solid understanding of REST API development, relational and NoSQL data modeling, and microservices design principles.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams and familiarity with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical options, trade-offs, and architectural recommendations clearly.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex runtime, infrastructure, and performance issues in backend environments.
