Cloud Engineer

Robert Half is hiring! We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to support and enhance a secure, high-performing technology environment for a financial services organization in South Carolina. This role combines infrastructure administration, cloud platform support, and systems optimization, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise across server management, identity services, Microsoft 365 administration, and virtualization, along with the ability to solve complex issues in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Linux and Windows server environments to ensure strong performance, stability, and secure day-to-day operations.

• Oversee cloud and virtual infrastructure across platforms such as Microsoft Azure and VMware, including ongoing management, support, and optimization.

• Manage directory services and identity infrastructure, including domain controller administration, directory roles, and related access controls.

• Support advanced Microsoft 365 administration by maintaining Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID environments.

• Monitor system health, evaluate performance trends, and implement tuning improvements to strengthen availability and efficiency.

• Maintain database environments through routine upkeep, performance improvements, and controls that protect data accuracy and security.

• Configure and support network and firewall settings, applying knowledge of communication protocols and secure port-level connectivity.

• Develop and maintain scripts or automation solutions to reduce manual effort and improve consistency in recurring administrative tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, along with at least 5 years of systems administration experience.
• Hands-on experience administering both Linux and Windows Server environments in enterprise settings.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and virtualization platforms such as VMware.
• Experience managing Active Directory and enterprise identity services, including controller and role administration.
• Advanced Microsoft 365 administration skills spanning Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.
• Proficiency in scripting or automation using tools such as PowerShell, batch scripting, VBScript, or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of network protocols, firewall administration, and secure systems communication.
• Microsoft or VMware certification is required.
