Cyber Security Analyst

We are looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to help protect systems, applications, and sensitive member information in Los Angeles, California. This Long-term Contract opportunity is suited for a security specialist who can monitor threats, investigate suspicious activity, and strengthen defenses across cloud-hosted and web-based environments. The role partners with technical and operational stakeholders to improve risk controls, support audit readiness, and reinforce the organization’s overall security posture.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor security events, assess potential threats, and take timely action to contain or escalate incidents affecting systems and user accounts.
• Examine logs and alert data, including activity captured through Datadog, to identify anomalies, unauthorized access attempts, and emerging attack patterns.
• Perform security reviews of cloud platforms, web applications, and member-facing systems to uncover weaknesses and recommend corrective measures.
• Investigate phishing campaigns, malware concerns, bot activity, and account compromise cases, documenting findings and response steps clearly.
• Evaluate user roles, access levels, and permission structures to support appropriate segregation of duties and stronger authentication controls.
• Contribute to the protection and hardening of WordPress environments and other hosted platforms by helping implement practical security improvements.
• Prepare audit-related security documentation and assist with remediation planning to support internal assessments and future external compliance reviews.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to reduce risk, improve monitoring practices, and advance broader cybersecurity initiatives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security operations roles.
• Hands-on background securing cloud-based environments and web applications, including WordPress platforms.
• Experience using security monitoring and alerting tools to investigate threats and support incident response activities.
• Working knowledge of phishing analysis, malware investigation, vulnerability assessment, and remediation practices.
• Understanding of access governance concepts such as role-based permissions and segregation of duties.
• Familiarity with compliance, regulatory, or risk management frameworks in environments such as healthcare, SaaS, or other data-sensitive industries.
• Strong communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills, with the ability to explain risks and recommendations clearly.
• Experience with tools and technologies such as Datadog, firewall platforms, Check Point, Cisco ASA, or configuration management is preferred.
