Our client is seeking a QA Engineer to help drive software quality across a rapidly growing development organization. This team is currently balancing both manual and automated testing and is aggressively expanding its automation capabilities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced Agile environment, have strong hands-on testing experience across the application stack, and be excited about leveraging AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code to improve quality and efficiency.
This is an opportunity to join a team that is investing heavily in automation while still valuing strong manual testing fundamentals. You'll partner closely with developers, product owners, and integration teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of development.
What You'll Do
- Design, execute, and maintain both manual and automated test cases for web-based applications.
- Work closely with Product Owners and Software Engineers to ensure quality requirements are defined early in the development lifecycle.
- Expand and enhance existing test automation efforts, primarily using Playwright.
- Validate front-end functionality, back-end business logic, APIs, and database integrations.
- Perform API and integration testing to ensure reliable data flow between systems.
- Execute regression, functional, acceptance, and exploratory testing.
- Conduct SQL-based testing and data validation against relational databases.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using Jira.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Help establish QA best practices and improve testing processes across the organization.
- Leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools, including Claude Code, to improve testing efficiency and productivity.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Quality Assurance experience in software application environments.
- Strong hands-on manual testing experience across web applications.
- Experience creating, executing, and maintaining test cases and test scripts.
- Exposure to test automation frameworks and automated testing methodologies.
- Experience testing APIs and system integrations.
- Strong SQL skills with experience validating and troubleshooting back-end data.
- Experience using Jira or similar defect-tracking tools.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working alongside development teams utilizing AI-assisted coding tools and modern engineering practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Playwright automation testing.
- Experience balancing manual and automated testing strategies.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development environments, including Claude Code.
- Experience testing both front-end user interfaces and back-end services.
- Payroll, HCM, HR technology, or related SaaS industry experience.
- Experience collaborating closely with software engineers on test automation initiatives.
