Role Summary

The Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise security controls that protect critical systems, data, and infrastructure. This role partners closely with IT, engineering, and business stakeholders to identify risks, remediate vulnerabilities, enhance monitoring capabilities, and ensure compliance with security standards. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in the Microsoft security ecosystem and a proactive approach to reducing organizational risk through technology, automation, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise security controls utilizing Microsoft security and compliance technologies.
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Sentinel, and related security platforms.
  • Implement and enhance data protection, data loss prevention, information protection, and compliance controls.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, security reviews, and risk analyses to identify and remediate weaknesses.
  • Improve security monitoring, logging, and SIEM capabilities to strengthen detection, response, and visibility across the environment.
  • Develop, tune, and maintain security alerts, analytics, and detection content to reduce false positives and improve threat identification.
  • Lead investigations into security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend containment and remediation strategies.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to integrate security best practices across systems and processes.
  • Support business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response planning activities.
  • Prepare and maintain security documentation, including security plans, risk assessments, control documentation, and remediation plans.
  • Analyze emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends to continuously improve the organization's cybersecurity posture.
  • Develop security metrics, reporting, and executive-level dashboards to communicate risk and performance.
  • Advocate for cybersecurity best practices and help foster a strong security-first culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on cybersecurity experience, including security engineering, vulnerability management, and security operations.
  • Deep experience with Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance solutions, including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Strong knowledge of SIEM, security monitoring, logging, endpoint protection, and threat detection technologies.
  • Experience implementing and managing enterprise security controls and security improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation efforts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and execute security projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Eligibility to work in compliance with applicable U.S. government technology export control requirements.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview capabilities, including Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Data Security Posture Management (DSPM).
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, Security+, Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert, Microsoft Security certifications, or CMMC Certified Professional.
  • Experience securing complex Active Directory environments and multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments and security compliance programs within manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST 800-series publications and security control implementation.
  • Experience supporting governance, risk, and compliance initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft GCC High or similarly regulated cloud environments.
  • Experience developing automation, monitoring, and security engineering processes to improve operational efficiency and risk reduction.
