About the Role
We are looking for a Database Administrator to support and optimize critical database environments in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing database systems across platforms including Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and MySQL. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, sound troubleshooting abilities, and a proactive approach to database health, availability, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain database platforms to ensure stability, security, and consistent availability for business operations.
• Monitor database performance, investigate bottlenecks, and implement tuning improvements to enhance efficiency and response times.
• Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to protect data integrity and support business continuity.
• Support database deployments, configuration updates, and environment changes while minimizing operational disruption.
• Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and resolve incidents affecting performance, connectivity, or reliability.
• Partner with technical teams to optimize queries, data structures, and system design for scalable application support.
• Oversee user access, permissions, and security controls in alignment with organizational and compliance standards.
• Document database configurations, maintenance procedures, and operational best practices for ongoing support and knowledge sharing.
• Working knowledge of Azure SQL Database and cloud-based database management practices.
• Experience supporting MySQL databases, including maintenance and performance optimization.
• Strong capability in Microsoft SQL, including query analysis and database troubleshooting.
• Proven background in performance tuning for database systems and workloads.
• Understanding of backup, recovery, and high-availability concepts for enterprise databases.
• Ability to diagnose technical issues efficiently and communicate solutions clearly with stakeholders.
