System Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer | 1
About the Role
Join our team as a key contributor responsible for the end-to-end operation of approximately 700 systems across TEST, AC1, PreLIVE, and LIVE environments. You will work in a highly automated, performance-driven infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of our VoIP and Radius platforms.
As part of our team, you will:
- Operate, maintain, and enhance VoIP and Radius systems within high-performance data centers
- Develop and improve automated system management using Puppet and Debian-based server clusters
- Drive projects within the VoIP and Radius environment across their full lifecycle — from design and implementation to deployment
- Perform performance analysis and optimization to ensure system efficiency and reliability
- Plan and execute rollouts of new features and system updates
- Carry out regular maintenance activities (system expansions, updates, upgrades)
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues in a structured and goal-oriented manner
- Coordinate with upstream providers by creating and managing trouble tickets
- Participate in an on-call rotation (additional compensation provided)
You are an experienced IT professional with strong Linux expertise and a passion for open-source technologies. Ideally, you bring:
- A degree in Computer Science, Natural Sciences, or a comparable qualification
- Several years of experience in IT operations (FOSS systems or Site Reliability Engineering)
- Strong expertise in Linux administration, especially with clustered environments
- Practical experience with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management)
- Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, UDP)
- Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl) for automation
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with virtualization (e.g. KVM, Proxmox, oVirt, OpenStack) – nice to have
- Knowledge of VoIP technologies and telephony systems (e.g. Asterisk, Kamailio) – a plus
- Experience with FreeRADIUS – a plus
- Knowledge of MySQL / MariaDB administration
- A proactive, service-oriented mindset and ability to quickly understand complex systems
- Good English skills (written and spoken); basic German is an advantage
