About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Information System Security Engineer to support cybersecurity efforts for federal programs in Chantilly, Virginia. This role focuses on strengthening secure system design, advising on compliance-driven technical decisions, and partnering with stakeholders across engineering and program teams. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in government security environments and can turn policy requirements into practical, mission-aligned solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and refine security engineering approaches for enterprise systems, cloud platforms, networks, and hybrid infrastructure supporting federal missions.
• Assess technical architectures to identify security gaps, recommend mitigation strategies, and improve overall resilience across Windows and Linux environments.
• Translate government cybersecurity standards and control requirements into implementable technical guidance for engineering and operations teams.
• Collaborate with program leadership, ISSOs, architects, and government representatives to align security priorities with operational and mission objectives.
• Support risk analysis, security design reviews, and system integration activities to ensure technologies meet required protection levels.
• Provide subject matter expertise on firewall technologies, secure network design, and configuration management practices in complex environments.
• Advise teams on secure implementation of cloud and infrastructure services, including access controls, segmentation, and hardening measures.
• Communicate security recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and help drive informed remediation decisions.
• Proven background supporting federal government environments with high-security or compliance-focused requirements.
• Strong knowledge of cloud and infrastructure security concepts, including network protection, firewalls, and administration of Windows and Linux systems.
• Experience in cybersecurity engineering, risk management, systems integration, or security architecture within complex technical organizations.
• Ability to interpret security policies, standards, and control frameworks and convert them into actionable engineering recommendations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to build credibility with customers and internal teams.
• Experience working effectively with cross-functional technical teams, program leadership, security officers, and government stakeholders.
• Hands-on familiarity with cybersecurity tools and technologies such as Check Point, Cisco ASA, firewall platforms, and configuration management solutions.

Requirements
• At least 15 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, systems engineering, infrastructure, cloud, networking, DevOps, software development, or related technical fields.• Proven background supporting federal government environments with high-security or compliance-focused requirements.
• Strong knowledge of cloud and infrastructure security concepts, including network protection, firewalls, and administration of Windows and Linux systems.
• Experience in cybersecurity engineering, risk management, systems integration, or security architecture within complex technical organizations.
