Sr. Software Engineer

We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of scalable backend and platform solutions supporting modern cloud-based applications. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to work with cross-functional engineering teams in Chicago, Illinois while building services, APIs, and foundational infrastructure in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate brings strong software development expertise, enjoys shaping solutions in newly established environments, and can help turn technical concepts into reliable implementations.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain backend applications, platform components, and service integrations using technologies such as C#, .NET, Python, Node.js, and related tools.
• Design and implement secure, scalable APIs and distributed services aligned with cloud-native and microservices-based architecture principles.
• Build application and infrastructure solutions from the ground up, supporting greenfield initiatives through planning, development, deployment, and optimization.
• Automate provisioning and release processes by applying Infrastructure as Code practices to cloud environments and platform services.
• Collaborate with architects, engineering leads, and peer developers to translate technical strategies into well-structured, production-ready solutions.
• Support the setup and improvement of cloud infrastructure, backend systems, and platform capabilities to ensure performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to technical discussions, code reviews, and engineering best practices that promote high-quality delivery across the development lifecycle.
• Explore and incorporate emerging tools and frameworks, including AI-enabled development technologies when relevant to project goals.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in platform engineering, backend development, software engineering, or cloud engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on programming experience with C#, .NET, Python, Node.js, or similar backend technologies.
• Demonstrated success designing, building, and deploying backend services and APIs in modern application environments.
• Solid understanding of microservices, cloud-native development patterns, and contemporary application frameworks.
• Experience using cloud platforms in workplace settings; broader cloud expertise is highly preferred.
• Background in Infrastructure as Code and automation for application or infrastructure deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, or React.js is preferred.
• Exposure to AI-related engineering tools such as LangChain, LangSmith, or comparable technologies is considered a plus.
