About the Role
We are looking for a senior-level Data Operations Engineer to support secure data exchange and reliable integration workflows for a long-term contract role based in Providence, Rhode Island. This position focuses on building resilient file-processing solutions, improving data reliability, and developing automation that strengthens day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with Python, SQL, EFT processes, and production-grade data pipelines, along with a practical approach to troubleshooting and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
• Create and maintain secure electronic file transfer solutions for inbound and outbound data exchanges using protocols such as SFTP and FTP.
• Develop scalable processes to onboard partner data feeds and manage recurring integration workflows with consistency and accuracy.
• Build automated controls for file validation, reconciliation, exception handling, retry logic, and operational alerting.
• Write robust Python code to ingest, transform, validate, and reconcile data across operational pipelines.
• Use advanced SQL to investigate data integrity, compare datasets, identify anomalies, and support trend analysis.
• Monitor production data workflows, detect quality issues early, and respond quickly to processing disruptions.
• Perform root-cause analysis for failed jobs or data discrepancies and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Reduce manual operational effort by introducing automation, monitoring, and repeatable support procedures.
• Produce clear technical documentation, support guides, and runbooks to improve ongoing operational support.
• Partner with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to resolve integration challenges while maintaining proper security and privacy controls for sensitive data.
• Strong hands-on background with EFT and file transfer technologies, including SFTP and FTP.
• Advanced Python programming skills for automation, data processing, and operational tooling.
• Strong SQL expertise, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, and data validation techniques.
• Experience working with Snowflake or another enterprise data warehouse platform.
• Proven ability to build, support, and optimize production data pipelines and ETL processes.
• Solid understanding of data quality practices, reconciliation methods, monitoring strategies, and error recovery.
• Excellent communication skills and experience handling confidential or sensitive data with appropriate security practices.

Requirements
• At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or a related production support environment.• Strong hands-on background with EFT and file transfer technologies, including SFTP and FTP.
• Advanced Python programming skills for automation, data processing, and operational tooling.
• Strong SQL expertise, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, and data validation techniques.
