About the Role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) based in Brazil. This role offers the opportunity to shape the architecture of large-scale, high-performance software systems serving demanding business needs. You will define scalable and resilient architectures across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL. Your decisions will directly influence system performance, security, reliability, and long-term maintainability. You will work on complex technical challenges involving low-latency services, multi-tenant platforms, auditability, and cloud cost optimization. The position combines hands-on technical leadership with architecture reviews, mentoring, documentation, and client-facing technical discussions. You will collaborate with experienced engineering professionals and contribute to diverse consulting projects using modern technologies. This is an opportunity to take strong ownership of meaningful technical outcomes while accelerating your expertise and career growth. Accountabilities Design and evolve low-latency, scalable service architectures on AWS, making informed decisions about the use of distributed components such as queues, caches, and search projections. Define architectures around explicit latency targets, including p95 and p99 performance requirements and synchronous durable commits within critical application paths. Architect robust audit and evidence systems using append-only event logs, versioned or bitemporal data models, and deterministic historical replay. Design resilient systems with clearly defined fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state behaviors for outages and operational disruptions. Architect secure multi-tenant environments and evaluate tradeoffs between Row-Level Security (RLS), schema-per-tenant, and database-per-tenant approaches. Design scalable RESTful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and Software Development Kit (SDK) integrations with external and internal services. Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and provide technical mentorship to engineering teams. Develop architecture documentation, system diagrams, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to communicate and preserve key technical decisions. Present, explain, and defend architecture decisions during client engineering and security reviews. Build capacity models and cloud cost and performance projections using principles from the AWS Well-Architected Framework. Contribute to hands-on software development while using AI coding assistants as part of the daily development workflow. Take end-to-end ownership of complex technical deliverables, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and maintainability. Collaborate closely with clients and engineering teams to understand requirements, solve complex technical problems, and deliver solutions aligned with business commitments. Promote engineering best practices, technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across projects. Requirements 8+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years in an architecture-focused role. Extensive experience architecting large, complex systems end-to-end, particularly low-latency service architectures in AWS. Strong expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the full technology stack. Deep experience with PostgreSQL or AuroraDB, including data modeling and Row-Level Security (RLS) at an architectural level. Proven experience designing secure multi-tenant architectures and evaluating different tenancy models based on security, scalability, performance, and operational tradeoffs. Strong background in scalable RESTful API design and SDK-based integrations with other services. Demonstrated experience with event-driven architectures, distributed systems, message queues, caching strategies, and other cloud-native patterns. Experience designing audit-heavy systems, append-only event models, versioned or bitemporal data structures, and deterministic historical replay. Strong understanding of reliability engineering, including fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded operational states. Experience developing capacity models and evaluating cloud cost, scalability, and performance considerations. Proven ability to establish technical standards, lead architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, and provide technical leadership. Strong documentation skills, including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs). Confident communication skills with the ability to present and defend technical decisions in client-facing engineering and security reviews. Experience incorporating AI coding assistants into daily software development practices. Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is preferred. Experience in compliance-sensitive or regulated environments, such as Telecommunications Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)/Do Not Call (DNC), fintech decisioning, or audit-heavy systems, is preferred. Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, and decision-making capabilities. Exceptional ownership and accountability, with a strong commitment to client and team deliverables. Meticulous attention to detail and consistent adherence to engineering best practices. Positive, proactive, and collaborative mindset with a strong can-do attitude. Ability to maintain working-hour overlap with teams operating during US business hours. Benefits Competitive salary and bonuses, including performance-based salary increases. Generous paid time off policy. Flexible working hours. Fully remote work. Continuing education, professional training, and conference opportunities. Company-sponsored coursework, examinations, and professional certifications. Exposure to a diverse range of challenging and meaningful client projects. Opportunities to work with modern technologies and experienced industry professionals. A collaborative consulting environment where contributions have a direct impact on client outcomes. Opportunities for accelerated professional development and long-term career growth.
