Privacy policy
How RemoteCloud9 collects, uses and protects your personal data.
1. Introduction
RemoteCloud9 ("we", "us", or "our") operates remotecloud9.com (the "Platform"), a remote developer job board. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and your rights over it.
By using the Platform you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please stop using the Platform.
2. Who we are
RemoteCloud9 is the data controller for personal data collected on this Platform. Contact: techcare@remotecloud9.com
3. What data we collect

- Phone number (used for code verification)
- Job listings you post, including title, description, salary and requirements
3.3 Google Sign-In
If you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and a unique Google account identifier. We use this only to create or identify your RemoteCloud9 account.
If you grant Gmail access for the optional "Scan emails" feature, we use it only to find job-related emails from companies you applied to, to update your application status. We do not read, store or share your email content for any other purpose.
3.4 Automatically collected data
- IP address and browser type
- Pages visited and time spent
- Referring URLs
- Session cookies (for authentication)
We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell this data.
4. How we use your data

- Job matching — to show relevant jobs based on your profile and preferences
- Application management — to track the jobs you apply to and show their status
- Code verification — to verify your email or phone

- Legal compliance — to comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests
We do not use your data for advertising, third-party profiling or selling to data brokers.
5. Legal basis (GDPR)
If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal basis is:
- Contract performance — to provide the services you asked for
- Legitimate interests — improving the Platform, preventing fraud and keeping it secure
- Consent — where you opted in (newsletters, Gmail access)
- Legal obligation — where the law requires it
You can withdraw consent at any time.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only when:
- You apply to a job — the employer sees your name, email and anything you submit
- Service providers help us run the Platform — Resend (email), Redis (caching of codes and sessions), Google OAuth (sign-in), Azure OpenAI (AI cover letter and interview prep). They act as processors under data processing agreements.
- The law requires it — court orders, or to protect rights and safety
7. Data retention
- Candidate accounts — kept until you ask us to delete them
- Employer accounts and job listings — kept until you ask us to delete them or close your account
- Sign-in codes — deleted within 10 minutes
- Application data — kept until either side deletes their account
- Email logs — kept only as long as needed for debugging
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and local storage to remember preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
See our cookie policy.
9. Your rights
- Access — a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — fix inaccurate data
- Deletion — delete your account and data
- Portability — your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction and objection — limit or object to processing
- Withdraw consent — at any time
Email techcare@remotecloud9.com to use any of these rights. We reply within 30 days. In the EEA or UK you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
To delete your data, see data deletion.
10. Security
- HTTPS for all data in transit
- Hashed passwords — we never store plain-text passwords
- Signed sign-in tokens with limited lifetimes
- Sign-in codes stored with short expiry, outside our main database
- Access controls on production data
No system is completely secure. If you suspect a security issue, email techcare@remotecloud9.com immediately.
11. Children
The Platform is not for children under 16. If you believe we have data from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Your data may be processed outside your country, including India (where our servers are) and the United States (where some providers operate). Outside the EEA or UK we use safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will email you or show a notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
14. Contact us
