The role offers a highly technical environment where engineering judgment, curiosity, and practical problem solving are essential. You will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams while occasionally traveling to customer locations to validate solutions on real vehicles. Accountabilities: Research vehicle network signals, proprietary OEM data, and field logs to identify valuable telemetry parameters and opportunities to expand vehicle coverage. Analyze wiring diagrams, body builder guides, OEM documentation, and related technical materials to determine effective vehicle connection and data-access strategies. Connect directly to vehicle communication networks, capture and analyze logs, and document technical findings for engineering and product teams. Use live vehicle debugging, data scraping, reverse-engineering techniques, and custom scripts to develop and validate new coverage solutions. Provide technical insights that improve the interpretation of vehicle data and inform the development of new telematics features. Travel to customer locations when required to interface with vehicles, investigate real-world data behavior, and validate coverage approaches. Drive vehicle coverage initiatives from research and technical investigation through validation in partnership with global and cross-functional teams. Translate complex vehicle-network findings into clear technical documentation and actionable recommendations for engineering and product stakeholders. You demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities and can investigate unfamiliar vehicle architectures and data sources methodically. You are comfortable working across engineering disciplines and communicating technical findings clearly to both technical and product stakeholders. You are adaptable, curious, and willing to work hands-on with physical vehicles and emerging telematics technologies. Benefits: Competitive compensation based on factors including education, professional experience, certifications, and geographic location. For eligible locations, compensation ranges from $140,000–$175,000 USD in other U.S. locations, $150,000–$190,000 USD in specified major metropolitan areas, and $160,000–$200,000 USD in San Francisco, California. Short-term and long-term disability coverage and life insurance. 401(k) retirement contributions, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Opportunities to work with advanced vehicle telemetry, automotive networking, reverse engineering, and data-driven technology. Exposure to diverse vehicle architectures, OEM technologies, and real-world customer environments. Collaboration with global, cross-functional engineering and product teams on technically challenging projects. Occasional travel and hands-on field validation opportunities, with some interviews or new-hire training potentially taking place in person.
