This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Architect based in the United States. This is a fully remote opportunity supporting an enterprise Zero Trust program for a U.S. Department of Defense client. You will shape cybersecurity architecture and long-term security strategies for complex, distributed environments. The role places a strong emphasis on Risk Management Framework (RMF) execution and achieving Authority to Operate (ATO). You’ll assess cyber risks, develop mitigation strategies, and integrate security requirements across systems, networks, and applications. Accountabilities Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies, architectures, policies, procedures, and security guidelines aligned with organizational objectives and applicable regulatory requirements. Lead RMF activities for large, distributed systems, including coordinating security controls, documentation, risk mitigation, and activities required to obtain and maintain an ATO. Identify, analyze, and assess cybersecurity and IT risks, developing practical mitigation strategies and ensuring risks are appropriately documented and addressed. Apply enterprise architecture principles to integrate security across infrastructure, applications, networks, and broader IT environments. Support security incident response activities, including detection, containment, eradication, recovery, and lessons learned. Coordinate and support vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, security audits, and other technical security evaluations. Evaluate and apply Zero Trust security concepts, including identity and access management, network security, data protection, ZTNA, firewalls, intrusion detection, and DLP technologies. Collaborate with government customers, IT teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to communicate requirements, resolve security challenges, and ensure program objectives are achieved. Present cybersecurity risks, findings, and recommendations to government stakeholders and senior audiences. Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices. Mentor junior cybersecurity professionals and help teams understand and apply effective security practices. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 5–10 years of experience in IT security, cybersecurity, or IT risk management, with demonstrated experience working on complex technology environments. Current Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship. Current DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification. Advanced cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CEH, or GIAC. Strong knowledge of Zero Trust Network Architecture, security principles, and the technologies used to implement Zero Trust environments. Deep expertise with DoD RMF controls, including correlating systems, networks, and applications with security controls, documenting remediation, and supporting ATO efforts. Strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, firewalls, VLANs, operating systems, and security configurations across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments. Knowledge of data protection techniques such as encryption, pseudonymization, and data masking. Experience with security audits, compliance requirements, regulatory standards, risk assessment, and mitigation practices. Knowledge of secure coding, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, incident response, and cybersecurity best practices. Familiarity with Zero Trust technologies including IAM, ZTNA, DLP, intrusion detection systems, and network security controls. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate complex technical and security concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and with government stakeholders. Ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies, cybersecurity threats, and mission requirements. Benefits Competitive salary range of $149,469–$184,000 annually , with final compensation based on experience, geographic location, and applicable contractual requirements.
