Accountabilities: Work directly with intelligence analysts to understand their goals, constraints, and workflows and translate those insights into effective technical solutions with clear success criteria. Identify the highest-leverage opportunities to improve intelligence collection by applying both an engineering and product perspective to prioritization. Design, build, and own AI-powered internal applications across backend services, APIs, data storage, infrastructure, and user-facing interfaces. Develop custom agentic solutions using modern AI models to augment and scale intelligence workflows. Maintain and extend reliable, scalable backend systems that analysts depend on for their day-to-day work. Own projects end-to-end, including technical design, architecture, scoping, implementation, delivery, iteration, and ongoing support. Build data ingestion and application workflows that support scalable intelligence collection and analysis. Continuously evaluate the real-world impact of solutions and iterate based on outcomes and feedback from internal users. Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver impactful features and maintain strong technical standards. Participate in an internal-tools on-call rotation, including triaging support requests related to the tools used by internal teams. Requirements: You have 6+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering, with a track record of building scalable web applications, services, and APIs. You have strong product sense and can identify the most impactful and scalable solution rather than simply addressing individual technical pain points. You are proficient in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript and have strong backend and systems engineering capabilities. You have hands-on experience designing backend systems, APIs, and data architectures using technologies such as PostgreSQL, pgvector, Pinecone, Redis, or comparable datastores. You have genuine hands-on experience with modern AI tools and applications, including generative AI models, agentic development environments, AI-enabled workflows, or prototypes. You understand how to evaluate and apply modern AI capabilities to real products and workflows rather than using AI solely as a coding assistant. You have strong ownership and initiative and can operate independently when requirements, priorities, or solutions are not fully defined. You can translate semi-technical stakeholder needs into scalable technical solutions and clearly explain architectural and technical trade-offs. You have excellent communication skills and can build trusted working relationships with analysts and other non-technical stakeholders. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly and experimentation is encouraged. Experience with data engineering, ingestion pipelines, data warehousing, or other data-intensive systems is highly valuable.
