As a Software Engineer II, you’ll build and operate backend systems that support accurate customer outcomes after financial transactions are completed. Accountabilities Break down larger engineering initiatives into well-defined tasks, deliver work in multiple phases, and collaborate with teammates to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on schedule. Design, develop, test, and launch reliable backend systems that support accurate customer account outcomes and post-transaction processes. Translate business problems and customer needs into scalable technical solutions that interact with multiple software components. Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics teams during ideation and solution development, clearly communicating technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs. Work closely with cross-functional partners, including compliance and other engineering teams, to ensure solutions meet customer, business, and regulatory requirements. Write clear, maintainable, well-tested, and extensible code that can evolve with changing product and operational needs. Navigate and contribute effectively to a large codebase, including debugging existing implementations and identifying opportunities for improvement. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to fellow engineers. Support the reliability and availability of team-owned systems by creating and monitoring appropriate metrics and responding to operational issues. Participate in on-call and "keep the lights on" activities, escalating incidents and helping resolve production issues when required. Contribute to a strong engineering community through knowledge sharing, interviews, growth initiatives, and other team development activities. Proactively seek feedback from teammates, managers, and stakeholders and use it to continuously improve technical and professional capabilities. Requirements 1.5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer. Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems in a production environment. Proficiency in at least one of Python or Kotlin . Familiarity with distributed-systems fundamentals and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes . Ability to take a relatively simple business problem or scenario and design a solution that integrates multiple software components. Strong software engineering fundamentals, including writing clear, understandable, well-tested, and extensible code. Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging existing code, and contributing effectively to code reviews. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and identify appropriate solutions. Demonstrated ownership of personal and professional development, including proactively seeking and incorporating feedback. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a globally distributed engineering organization. Ability to work effectively with product, design, analytics, compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience. Benefits Base salary range of CAD $128,000–$188,000 per year , with placement within the range determined by factors such as location, experience, and job-related skills.
