About the Role
We are looking for a Network Engineer to support and optimize enterprise network environments in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can strengthen network performance, improve visibility across infrastructure, and maintain secure, reliable connectivity. The role will focus on hands-on engineering, monitoring, and troubleshooting across a range of network technologies in a dynamic operational setting.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and enhance network infrastructure built on Cisco routing and switching technologies to support stable day-to-day operations.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewall platforms, including Palo Alto and Cisco ASA, to protect network traffic and enforce security standards.
• Monitor network health and performance using tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, and Zeek, identifying issues early and driving timely resolution.
• Support and optimize Meraki-based environments, including connectivity, device management, and performance tuning across distributed networks.
• Manage routing protocols such as BGP to ensure efficient traffic flow, resilient connectivity, and dependable external network communication.
• Diagnose complex connectivity and hardware issues involving switches, routers, and related network components, including FS switch environments when applicable.
• Document network configurations, operational procedures, and technical findings to support maintainability and team collaboration.
• Contribute to infrastructure updates and network-related implementation efforts, including Cisco environment changes when required.
• Practical knowledge of at least one or more network monitoring or analysis platforms such as Nagios, Zabbix, or Zeek.
• Strong background in Cisco networking, including routers, switching, and overall network design principles.
• Experience supporting security appliances, specifically Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco ASA platforms.
• Solid understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and its use in enterprise or service-provider connectivity.
• Ability to troubleshoot network performance, outages, and configuration issues across multiple technologies.
• Familiarity with FS switches and broader multi-vendor network infrastructure is preferred.
