About the Role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Network Engineer based in United States. This role offers the opportunity to shape the networking foundation behind a rapidly scaling fleet of commercially deployed humanoid robots. You will lead the design and evolution of edge-to-cloud connectivity across distributed robot deployments and cloud-native infrastructure. Your work will focus on highly available, secure, and low-latency communication systems supporting critical telemetry and control traffic. You’ll bring deep expertise in 5G, wireless networking, Linux networking, SDN, virtualization, and modern packet processing technologies. As a technical authority, you’ll establish architecture standards that enable reliable connectivity across diverse deployment environments. The role combines hands-on network performance engineering with strategic technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. This is a fully remote opportunity with significant influence over the infrastructure enabling the next generation of physical automation. This is a fully remote opportunity with significant influence over the infrastructure enabling the next generation of physical automation. Accountabilities: Architect and evolve next-generation connectivity solutions using 5G and private LTE networks, including containerized network functions for optimized edge performance. Design scalable, secure, and multi-tenant network architectures supporting global robot deployments, with strong performance and fleet-wide observability. Engineer high-throughput, low-latency networking solutions for telemetry and robot control traffic, including kernel-level tuning and modern packet-processing frameworks. Define standards and architectures for secure, high-performance tunneling between distributed edge devices and centralized cloud infrastructure. Lead network performance investigations and resolve complex connectivity, latency, roaming, and reliability issues through detailed packet and wireless analysis. Serve as a technical authority for network architecture and infrastructure decisions, helping establish long-term engineering standards. Partner with engineering, product, and other cross-functional leaders to align networking infrastructure with broader business and product objectives. Support deployments requiring travel across the United States and Canada, typically 25%–50%. Requirements: 8+ years of experience in network architecture, systems engineering, or staff-level networking roles within complex, distributed environments. Deep expertise in telecommunications and 5G wireless networking, including containerized network functions and kernel-level performance optimization. Advanced knowledge of the Linux network stack and foundational networking protocols including BGP, OSPF, and TCP/IP. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing complex SDN and virtualization solutions at scale. Expert-level ability to perform wired and wireless packet analysis using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump, including deep PCAP and 802.11 frame analysis for root-cause investigations. Strong understanding of IEEE 802.11 standards, including 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be and Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7, along with channel and band behavior across 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequencies. Experience with AWS cloud networking, including VPC design, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, and IoT Core, is preferred. Familiarity with Linux kernel technologies such as eBPF/XDP for high-performance packet processing and observability is a plus. Experience with RF spectrum analysis tools for identifying interference, noise-floor anomalies, and channel contention is advantageous. Willingness and ability to travel 25%–50% within the United States and Canada. Current authorization to work in the United States is required. Benefits: Anticipated base salary range of $181,000–$282,000, with final compensation depending on factors such as market location, knowledge, skills, and experience. Fully remote work, with hybrid flexibility available for candidates within commuting distance of offices in Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Fremont, California. 401(k) plan with a 6% company match. Company stock options. 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability insurance for employees. Benefits eligibility beginning on the first day of employment. Employee Assistance Program and well-being support. Flexible, unlimited PTO and 12 company holidays, including a winter shutdown, for exempt employees. Vacation days, paid sick leave, and 12 company holidays, including a winter shutdown, for non-exempt employees. Generous paid parental leave programs. Professional development and tuition reimbursement opportunities. Catered lunches four times per week and healthy snacks and refreshments at select office locations. Relocation assistance for eligible roles. Annual discretionary bonus for eligible roles. Flexible work arrangements and a supportive environment for professional growth.
