About the Role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director Health Informatics based in United States. The Director Health Informatics will lead advanced analytics and health informatics initiatives that turn complex requirements and healthcare data into actionable insights, predictions, and business intelligence. This senior leader will apply data science, decision intelligence, and AI/ML to improve healthcare operations, clinical outcomes, patient safety, policy, usability, and revenue cycle performance. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on expertise across data analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, and visualization. You will lead and mentor a senior data team while ensuring interoperability, security, and technical standards are consistently maintained. The position also involves advising government and commercial stakeholders and translating sophisticated analytical findings into practical recommendations. Accountabilities: Lead the health informatics practice across government and commercial engagements, applying data science, decision intelligence, and advanced analytics to transform healthcare operations and improve patient outcomes. Lead, mentor, and develop a senior data team while ensuring interoperability standards, security requirements, and broader technical requirements are met. Gather, elaborate, and manage customer requirements and actively contribute to the establishment and management of new healthcare studies. Develop algorithms and analytical tools for data collection and raw-data analysis, including data quality assessment, profiling, cleansing, and exploratory data analysis. Design and develop advanced operations research techniques, diagnostic and predictive models, and machine learning algorithms using large datasets, applying rigorous statistical methods to train and evaluate models. Deploy analytical models into operational environments with a strong understanding of healthcare provider workflows and practical business needs. Interpret analytical results and communicate insights effectively to providers, business customers, senior leadership, and other stakeholders. Develop data visualization approaches that clearly communicate complex findings and support informed decision-making. Guide teams and leadership on technical tools, methodologies, and resources used to conduct studies and analyze both classified and unclassified information. Lead the application of advanced data science methodologies, including machine learning, predictive and prescriptive analytics, optimization, operations research, and emerging analytical techniques. Identify major problems and future needs, investigate root causes, develop practical solutions, and recommend opportunities for significant process improvements. Evaluate the performance of decision systems, models, and analytical tools, identifying strengths and weaknesses and leading pilots and functional or technical change initiatives. Manage relationships with Department of Veterans Affairs clients and strategic partners. Requirements: 15+ years of professional experience and domain expertise in Health Informatics, Health IT, Clinical Informatics, or closely related areas. Advanced expertise across programming and analytics technologies including Python, R, SQL, Java, Julia, Scala, SPSS, and SAS. 5+ years of advanced data analysis experience, particularly involving artificial intelligence and machine learning. Strong experience with data and AI/ML platforms such as Azure ML, AWS AI/ML, Databricks, Palantir, Snowflake, or comparable technologies. Expert knowledge of software and big-data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka. Proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as PowerApps, Power BI, Looker, Metabase, Tableau, Seaborn, or similar platforms. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and written presentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for continuous learning as data science, AI/ML, and healthcare technology continue to evolve. Healthcare, research, and consulting experience is preferred. Master’s, PhD, or bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, information science, or a related discipline. Expertise in Electronic Health Record Management (EHRM) system integration and support is preferred. Direct experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs and/or Veterans Health Administration is highly desirable.
