About the Program

Role is for a multi-year banking modernization program delivering a complex systems integration solution for a European Banking Customer. The platform landscape spans ServiceNow, Blue Prism (RPA), Sisense (reporting), Optimus (bot orchestration), and a bespoke Task/Facade API layer. Active workstreams include Know your Customer “KYC”, Estates, Core Efficiency Package “CEP”, Foundations, BOTs Activation, and cross-platform integration. Delivery combines onshore client-facing governance with an offshore factory model executing from India.

Role Purpose

The E2E Technical Architect owns the full technical solution from integration layer to platform delivery — ensuring architectural coherence across all workstreams, platforms, and geographies. This is not a single-platform role. The architect is the technical authority that connects the dots: API design, platform constraints, integration patterns, data flows, and non-functional requirements all sit within scope. The role operates at the intersection of client architecture teams, offshore factory leads, and external SMEs, and is accountable for technical decision quality at every stage gate.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end technical architecture across all platforms — ServiceNow, Blue Prism, Sisense, Task/Facade API, and Optimus — ensuring consistency of design decisions across workstreams

• Define and maintain the integration architecture: data flows, API contracts, middleware patterns, and event/trigger models between core banking systems and our platforms

• Produce and govern architecture artefacts — solution design documents, integration playbooks, and architectural decision records (ADRs)

• Lead technical design sessions with offshore factory leads (ServiceNow, RPA, API) and external SMEs; translate business requirements from functional specs into implementable technical designs

• Review and sign off on technical designs produced by workstream leads before build commences; enforce architecture standards and reject non-conforming designs at gate

• Act as the primary technical interface to client architecture and infrastructure teams — managing alignment on platform access, security policy, data handling, and production deployment requirements

• Define and maintain non-functional requirements: performance SLAs, availability targets, security controls, data residency constraints, and disaster recovery posture for each platform

• Own technical risk identification and mitigation — surfacing architecture risks early, sizing technical debt, and recommending remediation paths with delivery impact assessments

• Support pre-production and production deployment planning — environment strategy, release sequencing, rollback design, and go/no-go technical criteria

• Guide AI-assisted delivery integration: define the technical boundaries within which AI-generated code (Claude-supported WoW) is safe to use, and establish review standards for AI output at code gate
• Build and manage strong client and Operations relationships — setting expectations at all levels across clients, Operations leadership, and delivery teams; make independent decisions within area of responsibility, with high accountability for client/Operations satisfaction.

Location and Terms

• Primary location: Spain

• Travel: 25-30% maybe required to program locations for stakeholder workshops, governance, milestone events, and client relationship management

• Collaboration with offshore teams (e.g. India) and vendors across time zones — flexibility required

Required Experience

• Minimum 10 years in technical architecture or senior engineering, with at least 5 years in SI program delivery in financial services or banking

• Proven E2E architecture experience — has owned solution architecture across multiple integrated platforms simultaneously, not single-platform specialization

• Deep expertise in enterprise integration patterns: REST/SOAP API design, event-driven architecture, middleware (MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, or equivalent), and data flow design between heterogeneous systems

• Strong ServiceNow technical knowledge — platform architecture, integration hub, scripted REST APIs, scoped applications, and performance considerations at enterprise scale

• Hands-on understanding of RPA architecture (Blue Prism or equivalent) object studio design patterns, orchestration, exception handling, and integration with surrounding systems

• Experience designing for regulated banking environments — data classification, security zoning, audit trail requirements, and compliance-aligned architecture decisions

• Comfortable operating in dual-shore delivery: able to set technical standards that offshore factory teams can execute against without continuous handholding, and review output effectively

• Strong written communication — produces architecture documentation that is precise, unambiguous, and usable by both business stakeholders and technical build teams

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Sisense

• Familiarity with Optimus or similar bot orchestration frameworks in a banking context

• Prior architecture delivery on KYC, AML, Estates, or client lifecycle program within EU regulatory frameworks

• Architecture governance experience — running design authority, ADR processes, or technical review boards within an SI program

• TOGAF, ArchiMate, or AWS/Azure architecture certification

• Experience integrating AI-generated code into an enterprise delivery pipeline — defining review gates, quality standards, and risk controls

• Technical authority without ego — able to make and defend architecture decisions, accept challenge from client architects, and change position when evidence warrants it

• Cross-platform thinker — naturally sees how platform-level decisions create downstream constraints; does not optimize one component at the cost of the whole

• Delivery-oriented — understands that architecture serves the program, not the other way around; produces designs that are implementable within real constraints of time, team, and technology

• Operates through influence in a multi-party SI environment — governs technical quality without direct line authority over factory teams or client infrastructure

• Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences — can present architecture risk to an exec sponsor and technical detail to a factory lead in the same day
