Solutions Architect

As a Solutions Architect, you will bridge deep payments technology expertise with customer-facing architecture and commercial strategy. You will design how complex payment solutions integrate into enterprise payment stacks, from initial architecture discussions through go-live. Accountabilities: Map customer payment flows end to end, from checkout through authorization, capture, settlement, and reconciliation, identifying where payment solutions should be integrated. Determine the appropriate position of solutions within complex enterprise payment stacks and define the changes required for compliant implementation. Trace transaction behavior in detail, including API calls, payloads, payment amounts, token creation, partial captures, refunds, and other transaction states. Produce professional architecture and sequence diagrams that clearly document system boundaries, call order, data ownership, integrations, and transaction flows. Guide customer and partner technical teams in creating and maintaining architecture documentation, stepping in directly when needed. Develop reusable reference architectures and integration patterns for recurring customer requirements. Write prescriptive integration specifications detailing endpoints, call sequences, required data, implementation changes, tradeoffs, and technical rationale. Lead architecture reviews, integration working sessions, and technical discussions with customer developers, architects, gateway providers, and platform vendors. Present technical architecture and business value to executive sponsors, procurement teams, finance and operations leaders, and other non-technical stakeholders. Partner with Sales and Partnerships teams to communicate the commercial value, implementation effort, and technical rationale behind proposed architectures. Identify genuine product gaps and provide Product teams with sufficiently detailed technical cases to inform future improvements. Maintain technical ownership from the initial architecture conversation through signed design and implementation handoff, remaining accountable through go-live. Collaborate with Implementation teams to ensure documented designs are accurately translated into customer solutions. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing payments role, including at least 3 years personally owning the technical design of enterprise payment integrations end to end. Strong understanding of the payment transaction lifecycle, including authorization, partial and delayed capture, voids, refunds, settlement, and reconciliation with accounting systems or ERPs. Direct experience working with or integrating deeply into a payment gateway, acquirer, or payment orchestration platform. Ability to independently read and reason about API documentation, request and response payloads, transaction logs, and customer workflows. Sufficient scripting experience to prototype API calls, analyze transaction data, or parse log files when investigating technical issues. Proven ability to understand complex customer architectures and accurately explain expected system and transaction behavior. Demonstrated experience producing professional architecture and sequence diagrams. Experience presenting technical integration designs to non-technical executive audiences and facilitating decisions among diverse stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a structured approach to investigating root causes before recommending solutions. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust across technical and commercial audiences. Collaborative and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to support teammates and contribute to shared outcomes. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand customer needs, incentives, constraints, and technical realities. Adaptability, intellectual curiosity, and a growth mindset when navigating complex or ambiguous problems. Experience with ERPs, accounting systems of record, accounts receivable automation platforms, or vertical SaaS platforms is a plus. Experience with card-present payment solutions is a plus. Experience supporting enterprise customers in B2B wholesale distribution, transportation and logistics, professional services, government and utilities, or education is a plus. Benefits: Remote position open to candidates located in the United States. Remote salary range of $145,000–$170,000 USD. Up to 5% travel, primarily for company and partner events.
