The position combines hands-on engineering expertise with project coordination, customer engagement, and team development. You will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from tender evaluation and bid preparation through detailed engineering and commissioning. The role involves working on complex international projects supporting grid stability, voltage control, and transmission efficiency. Accountabilities: Lead and execute detailed power system studies for STATCOM and FACTS projects, ensuring technically robust and customer-aligned engineering solutions. Perform and review insulation coordination, harmonic analysis and filter design, temporary and transient overvoltage, switching transient, load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability, LVRT, and HVRT studies. Develop, validate, and review simulation models for STATCOM and SVC systems using industry-standard engineering tools. Prepare detailed technical reports, study documentation, and customer presentations, ensuring clear communication of engineering findings and recommendations. Coordinate with control, protection, primary engineering, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless technical integration across projects. Interface with utilities, consultants, and customers on technical discussions, requirements, approvals, and project-specific engineering matters. Lead the global System Design expert organization for grid integration of high-power reactive power compensators exceeding 100 MVAr. Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team while strengthening technical capabilities, competencies, and succession planning. Allocate engineering resources and monitor schedules across multiple projects to maintain quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. Establish and improve standard engineering practices, templates, workflows, and processes to support consistent and scalable project execution. Conduct technical reviews and engineering risk assessments while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Support employee development, training, mentoring, and long-term capability building across the engineering organization. Requirements: Bring 14–18 years of relevant professional experience in power system studies, including at least 5 years of direct experience with STATCOM or FACTS projects. Hold a BTech, MTech, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a specialization in Power Systems. Demonstrate experience in utility-scale grid integration, EHV substations, and substation or grid system design solutions such as FACTS or HVDC. Possess strong hands-on expertise with STATCOM and FACTS power system studies, equipment sizing, insulation coordination, harmonics analysis, and transient simulations. Demonstrate proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PSSE, and PRSIM, with exposure to DIgSILENT PowerFactory, RTDS, EMTDC, EMTP-RV, or hardware-in-the-loop testing considered an advantage. Have a strong understanding of FACTS and power electronics applications, as well as IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE standards related to harmonics and insulation coordination. Demonstrate proven people leadership, technical mentoring, project leadership, prioritization, and time management skills. Possess strong analytical, troubleshooting, and engineering problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to manage complex technical challenges. Have experience handling global utility and customer requirements and working effectively in an international environment. Demonstrate knowledge of engineering process development, application, continuous improvement, and the ability to anticipate future technical and organizational needs. Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Exposure to Indian Grid Code, CEA regulations, and international utility standards is preferred. Experience within FACTS/STATCOM, power transmission and distribution, renewable energy integration, HVDC, utility consulting, EPC power projects, or BESS system integration is highly desirable.
