About the Opportunity

DMI is looking for a Senior Network Administrator to support a large State of Maryland agency in Baltimore, MD. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as technical advisor to the site directors, manage the network, provide computer/IT support in addition to providing IT consulting when projects the directors pursue directly impact or affect the network.
• Supports the designated sites assigned, the position also supports satellite offices associated with DHS. The offices include the county courthouses, sheriff’s offices, and other locations where DHS staff and contractors are located.
• Guides junior administrators and shares LAN managerial duties with each member of the team in addition to current duties.
• Provides in-person help desk computer/server troubleshooting support, to include investigating software related failures in addition to faulty computer components and peripherals (disk drives, motherboards, mice, printers, keyboards, etc.).
• Provides in-person remote site coverage for other supported locations which will include all duties as outlined above for said location in the event that the individual responsible for the location is on leave or out of the office.
• Provides desktop telephone support to other off-site staff, to include providing remote computer support/diagnosis, using provided remote diagnosis tools.
• Serves as a technical resource/subject matter expert to other Administrators and provides guidance/support as needed on technical implementations.
• Motivates and leads cross-functional teams and manages stakeholder groups at various levels of the organization to build trust and forge critical consensus.
• Manages, creates, and provisions accounts, permissions, and identities per DHS’ policies.
• Manages, creates, and shares documentation and other material on processes, technical implementations, as well as modifications and changes in the environment.
• Deploys equipment to meet the agency’s needs.
• Administrators must be available for on-site and remote assistance with issues related to the infrastructure.
• Manages and tracks inventory through the inventory lifecycle.
• Configures and manages IT equipment per DHS’ standards

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:  

• An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field; or Technical 'school certificate of completion in the data communications field including cable installation; or the equivalent military training. Two (2) additional years of specialized experience may be substituted for the required education.
• Eight (8) years of experience in a computer-related field.

Specialized Experience:

• Five (5) years of experience in the following areas: Installation, operation, and maintenance of Windows Infrastructure and connected devices 

Citizenship Status Required: Must be eligible to wotk in the United States
