This volunteer leadership role supports the development and maintenance of internal technology solutions for a mission-driven organization focused on expanding STEM education and career pathways. The role involves maintaining scripts, connecting platforms through APIs, and improving workflows that support volunteer onboarding and day-to-day operations. You will work across tools such as Jira, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Gemini, and iCIMS while collaborating with other technical leads. Accountabilities: You will provide technical leadership and hands-on support across internal software, automation, and workflow initiatives while helping a small team of volunteers stay organized and productive. Guide and mentor a small team of junior engineers working on internal tools, scripts, and technical solutions. Monitor assigned technical work and help ensure projects and tasks remain on track. Support the development and maintenance of scripts, APIs, integrations, and automated workflows. Step in as a backup for other technology team leads when additional technical or leadership support is needed. Organize, prioritize, and track technical tasks using tools such as Jira. Help coordinate technical projects and contribute to practical solutions that improve operational efficiency. Assist with interviewing, onboarding, and supporting new technology volunteers. Collaborate with other technical volunteers and teams to troubleshoot issues and maintain reliable operational systems. Commit approximately 6 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months. Requirements: The ideal candidate is a resourceful and collaborative technology professional who can combine hands-on technical knowledge with strong leadership and mentoring skills. You should be comfortable working independently, communicating clearly, and supporting junior contributors in a flexible volunteer environment. Demonstrated resourcefulness and a proactive, can-do approach to solving technical and operational challenges. Strong leadership, team-building, mentoring, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Some experience with programming, scripting, APIs, automation, or software development. Familiarity with Google Apps Script and/or JavaScript is beneficial. Familiarity with Google Workspace, Gemini, Jira, Salesforce, or iCIMS, or willingness to learn these platforms. Ability to organize and prioritize technical work across multiple projects or contributors. Previous leadership or mentoring experience in a nonprofit or volunteer environment is a plus. Willingness to contribute approximately 6 flexible hours per week for at least 6 months. Benefits: Pro-bono, unpaid volunteer opportunity. Flexible commitment of approximately 6 hours per week.
